Artifact 2: Composition Techniques

Rule of Thirds: Photo by Nosakhare Egbon licensed under CC BY

I recently adopted a cat and this was the carrier that I used to take her home. A lot of people that come over find it amusing that she came in a box called a "Pet Taxi" so I wanted to add that as an element of Storytelling.
I think because of the design of the box, the rule of thirds can easily be seen here. It took me taking several shots to be able to get one where everything looked aligned. When viewers look at the picture, the first thing they will notice is the text in the center.
Oddly enough, the photo makes me feel amused when I look at it because of the text as I start to imagine an actual taxi cab for animals.

This was another fun shot to take. It's one of my new cat's puzzle feeders I got to keep her busy while I'm out. She's a pretty clever kitty so she figured it out quickly and I came home the other day to find it solved like this. I did manipulate the puzzle to look like this for the photo but I thought about giving a sense of depth as well as showing symmetry with the green leaf tabs on the left side opposite to the red tabs on the right. I hope the viewer's eye would go straight to the middle and follow the leaves going back.
The photo makes me feel satisfied and at ease because everything looks organized.

Finally, a shot of the star. Her name is Matcha and she's definitely a model kitty. In the photo, as opposed to being divided into threes, the focal point is right in the middle with the focus being on Matcha. You can almost see the diagonal lines from the corners across the picture, through her ears to the bottom.
I really wanted to convey a professional-looking shot of an animal here so I was lucky that she stayed completely still for this. I get a calm, happy feeling when I look at the photo and I hope it's the same for viewers too.
